Dim Sum CHEF IN THE MAKING @ Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur

Junior Chef Vialentino @ Dim Sum Culinary Workshop with Chef Lo ...

  • I enjoy eating dim sum and I also did make some dim sum for my friends to eat but it was so-so ... couldn't get the exact result from the dim sum restaurant ...
  • Other than just eating and taking food pictures only, it is time to attend cooking class to learn something new which is making 5 star graded Dim Sum @ Hotel Nikko.

  • The unique culinary art of Dim Sum originated with the Cantonese in Southern China. Dim Sum is usually liked with the older tradition of Yum Cha (drink tea) from a relaxing respite to a loud and happy dining experience. Besides that, Yum Cha also treated as a weekend family day.
  • I was lucky to be able to join Chef Lo Tian Son from Toh Lee Chinese Restaurant at Hotel Nikko on his quest of making dim sum.

Me with my Dim Sum master - Chef Lo ...

  • Chef Lo Tian Sion fondly known as Chef Lo, the Dim Sum Chef of Toh Lee Chinese Restaurant at Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur has made his mark in many well-known restaurants and hotels in Kuala Lumpur with his experience in culinary scene for more than 19 years.
  • With a humble beginning into the culinary world in the year 1989, he start as an apprentice at a small coffee shop in Johor and went on to the Concorde Hotel in Singapore as a Comis I (1991). In 1993 Chef Lo moved to Kuala Lumpur as Chef de Partie of Pan Pacific and Concorde Kuala Lumpur (1994).
  • For this Dim Sum workshop, Chef Lo will demonstrate and teach us on 4 dim sum dishes which are;
    1. Steamed Diced Chicken Dumpling with Scallops
    2. Steamed Fish Ball with Chopped Coriander Leaf
    3. Deep Fried Crispy Prawn Dumpling
    4. Deep Fried Sweet Potato Balls coated with Sesame Seed

These are the ingredients used for the 1st Dim Sum - Steamed Diced Chicken Dumpling with Scallops.

  • I will take you through on the Culinary Workshop which full of fun, laughters, the mess we have created and excitement when see our end result.

hmmmm... test your dim sum making skills at home. Ask your wifey and boy boy to try and give their verdict :P
and if they give stamp of approval, you can actually start making your own dim sum at home rather than spending $$$ outside eating sub-standard dim sum.. LOL!
