Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Diner) @ Ubud, Bali

One of the Finest Dining in my Bali Holiday ...
  • Firstly, really regret that I did not brought my DSLR camera to capture the foods and environment in this restaurant ...
  • This is one of our itenary food hunt places in Ubud ... the famous Dirty Duck Diner ... we heard and read many reviews about this price and decided to give it a try.
  • It was a 5 mins walk from our resort to this restaurant only ... carrying Dylan along the way to here is a very challenging task for me especially his weight and crossing the roads ...

  • How did get the name Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck) ...

    Well here's the story..

When they were building the restaurant, they thought long and hard about a name. Many good suggestions came from their friends, but none seemed just right. They knew they wanted a Balinese name that translated well into English. However, for a long time the metaphor eluded them.

One tropical monsoon morning, when the restaurant was very close to being finished ( they had the concrete floor down, and the tables in ), a flock of ducks from the rice field across the road ( yes, there were rice fields all around them then ) ran quacking and squawking into the restaurant and across the floor and tables. They left muddy webbed footprints all over the place. They were our first guests - those dirty ducks !

Bebek Bengil ( Dirty Duck Diner ) was first opened in 1990.

They have been serving delicious foods and providing good services in a friendly, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

I like their food menu ...

Tomyam soup ... taste ok.

Some of the side dishes I ordered ...

Love Bali Gado-Gado ... a must dish in my every meal ...

Crispy Duck in Spicy Chillie ... very nice to eat with the sauce but it was not spicy to me thou it look very spicy.

Bebek Bengil Crispy Duck is their signature dish, Half a duck steamed in Indonesian spices and then fried for a crispy finish. Your choice of sauteed potatoes and a side salad or steamed rice and Indonesian vegetables. A must-order thou I find our local Duck King restaurant taste nicer.

Spicy Chicken Meat ... love this dish and the cone rice ...
  • Dining here is pretty amazing with the serene atmosphere of Ubud ... enjoy the food despite the price you are paying but it worth every cents.

Read from Foong's earlier post that the duck isn't as good as the ones we have here.
